Los Angeles Chinese Film Festival Screenwriting Competition
Los Angeles Chinese Film Festival Screenwriting Competition (LACFFSC) is an international screenplay competition that acts as a complement to the Los Angeles Chinese Film Festival. Our screenwriting competition aims to identify and select outstanding projects that explore and uplift Chinese culture and the Chinese diaspora. We also hope to foster cultural exchange and celebrate cultural diversity through an annual Summit that features industry panels, workshops, pitch sessions, award ceremonies, and social events. We deeply believe that promoting diverse storytelling is one of the best vehicles to teach and generate empathy and compassion to combat racism, bigotry, and xenophobia.
Our definition of “Chinese” is not bound by national borders or any specific region—we seek to elevate scripts related to Chinese culture, elements, heritage, identity and the Chinese diaspora. We welcome writers of Chinese descent, including but not limited to those in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, America and any other regions, as well as those from China’s ethnic minority communities. We also welcome creators with understanding of Chinese culture regardless of their ethnicity, nationality or background.
