Guoqing Liu started his career as a freelance story writer at a very young age, and hundreds of his works have been published in major domestic newspapers and magazines including Southern People Weekly, Youth Digest, Qi-lu Evening News and Yangtse Evening News. In 2009, he was granted a full scholarship to pursue the Phd program in Mechanical Engineering in the United States. Upon his Phd graduation in 2013, he was admitted into USC School of Cinematic Arts. In 2017, he successfully held a MFA degree in Film and TV Production. His Thesis film Release got into major international film festivals including 2018 Palm Spring International Film Festival as well as LA Shorts International Film Festival. His TV screenwriting debut The Long Night (2020) became a huge hit domestically in China, and is considered one the best Chinese TV series of 2020.
