Joy Liu obtained her master’s degree in fine art from San Francisco Art Institute. She proceeded with her career as a full-time filmmaker starting in early 2017.
At the early stage of her film career, Joy worked in the art department as a set dresser in three $2 million budget feature films which are now released both theatrical and online. In late 2017, when Joy worked as a production designer for HUAWEI Mate 10 and Bazaar Men commercials, she discovered a strong interest in production management. She started her career in the production department as a production coordinator.
Since then, Joy Liu has been working as a producer, line producer, or production supervisor in various types of projects. Besides the common project types such as feature film, short film, and commercial, she also has experience in production-supervising projects such as video game motion capture, virtual reality, and international co-production TV episodes. Joy has worked with companies such as TIME Magazine, Digital Domain, HUAWEI, BAZAAR Men, Supermassive Games, and OPPO. The budgets of the projects that she has managed or coordinated are between $30K to $48M.
